Made a friend from a very elite school during an event. We got along so we became rather close and are quite updated with each otherβs life. He then started to talk about how he looks down on o level students and how they are not intellectually as smart as himπ. I was like what the fuck because im an o level student and he knows. So what the hell is going on bro. Does he detest me tooπ Honestly sia. Obviously i know not ALL elite sch students are like this but honestly this is not the first time i had experienced this already eh. Last year, i joined a language progamme offered by my school and then this girl started flaunting about how she is from chung cheng main and kept on asking me for my psle score. Then when i say my psle score, she scorned and said her own but like buddy i didnt askπ. Seriously eh, i wonder how theyre gonna survive in adulthood when they realised more than half the population are from non-elite schools. This is concerning for me too because im aiming to get onto an elite jc after o levels but atp im gonna aim for non-ip jcs bro, seriously. How are you trapped in your own little bubble so much that you dont have basic human awareness and decency to talk about this kind of things.

F&b shops are closing left right centre. Heritage hawker stalls cannot stand the increasing rent plus cost of living because kopitiams are being flipped like the beo crescent curry rice one. Rent is increasingly ridiculous. Everybody pocket hurting. Solutions are simple and relatively painless for us. But painful for those landlords and operators. 1. Eat hawker food in hawker centre. Especially from the older hawkers. Or cook and eat in. It's cheaper and healthier than those in food courts or kopitiams. If you must buy from them, tabao. Because the owners mostly run the drinks stall and very profitable. Make these scalping koptiam landlords suffer. Do not patronise the f&b outlets. Especially overseas ones like from China. Those are the ones increasing the rent prices because deep pockets and SG as test market for regional expansion. 2. Buy online and overseas. I think a lot are doing it already. There is actually no motivation to need to buy anything from shopping malls. Make the reits suffer. If no business they need to lower rent. Or buy from HDB mom & pop shops. 3. Be more aware. Rent is THE primary cause for the escalation of prices here. Inflation, high wages are partially an effect of that too. The govt do not want to confront it because they and their cronies are the primary beneficiary of it. TLDR: Spend your money anywhere except in shopping malls and kopitiams. In a capitalistic society like ours, the way to fight back against rent is to deprive them of revenue sources. Support hawkers in hawker centers or cook and eat in. Buy online and overseas plus local mum pop shops.

Hi all, Iβm in tech and lucky enough to receive 2 offers. Offer 1: Public sector, annual base salary around 80k but TC likely to hit 100k with bonus which I heard >3 months is quite common. Thereβs a significant sign on bonus as well Offer 2: F500, annual base salary around 70k with less than 10k stock per year and bonus capped at 3 months I know the long term prospects of the private sector are a higher ceiling and more technical growth, and thatβs probably why public sector is trying to offer more upfront. In this economy and market, the stability is tempting as well and the higher amount in earlier years can be invested as well. Would love to hear opinions on which you guys would take and why.

hi all wanna know how to make your partner contribute to the living expenses. she's making good money but refuses to chip in on rent nor living expenses. we have been together quite long but cannot get married as our jobs are not stable. I feel overwhelmed by the expenses and the fact that I am also repaying a lot of debt at this time. Any recommendations on how to discuss finances with your partner and make her contribute? We end up having an argument whenever I bring up the subject!

Asking for one of my nephews who will be taking his o levels next year. I understand that sectors like tech, finance, and services are currently facing a slowdown, with fewer job openings and more contract roles instead of permanent positions. However, I'm curious about other industries such as healthcare and the built environment (like facilities management). I heard from people working in those areas that it's actually challenging to find manpower. like to hear your thoughts especially from those in sectors where the job market is still strong
