Respect to all the uncles and aunties who are still running their hawker stalls! Being able to run a stall for 40 years is no mean feat, even 10-20 years is phenomenal alr. Wonder how they even managed to push through that long with all the physical and mental toll of being a hawker
It definitely takes a specific type of person to be able to toil in a tiny kitchen in hot tropical weather for more than 8 hours a day with almost no days off. You got to be them old school workaholic type. Whenever I have to cook big meals that would take at most 3 hours in the kitchen when my family comes over, I feel like I ran through a triathlon. I don't know if I can deal with 8-10 hours in a hawker stall.
Hawkers are always unappreciated and exploited. Shame to those who promoting cheap foods and those who exploited them for high rental & cleaning fee. Hope Uncle find his next purpose of life. There are more purposes in life. Volunteering, picking up a hobby, keeping fit etc.
