Anyone knows fairly large spots serving Ramen, Sushi, Sashimi, Dons, Omu rice, and Tonkatsu?? Getting tired going to my typical spots in town, and would like hearing your suggestions!

I'll go first. When I used to work in a bank call centre, a credit line product was targeted more towards customers who had a history of paying credit card bills late but would ultimately pay their bills. I guess the intent was to collect more interest from such customers as they would have a higher likelihood of tardy payments.

The main problem is not enough companies want interns or fresh grads. Even at internship pay. our internship salary is a full time salary in the countries around the region. Quite a few companies are already slowly moving their operations out of sg or outsourcing them remotely as the cost of doing business here always it's benefits. But instead the solution is the govt wants these private companies to take our students but the govt will pay them instead with our taxpayers money? How strict will their measures we saw that it's not abused? Also how sustainable is this? Last time they had something like was covid so ok... Just temporary. Now leh? Is this just a blip too? Also is the govt admitting our "world class" education is not good enough now for a job? Do you need students already doing internship half year internships, some even doing half yeur internships every year during school holidays. Still not enough? Because we didn't have this problem before. Then what value is our uni courses? And our kids study so hard so long for what? We can no longer be dependant on sme, foreign companies and government agencies to create jobs for us. This has been said many times over the decades but the government needs to provide space and time fo local entrepreneur culture to develop and take hold without expecting short term returns. I am saying this having been in the media "boom" of the early 00s. The focus should be on entrepreneurship I schools and the ecosystem to have sustainable entrepreneurship mindset.(Not social enterprise taking advantage of hawkers) And the govt should not be the one leading the initiative. Let successful, retired entrepreneurs locally and from around the region spearhead it. And there shouldn't be a timeline or kpi every 10 years. But a permanent fixture of our culture. If we don't build our own entrepreneurship culture here we will always be at the mercy of foreign companies and their motivation is always profit. How many jobs can the government agencies create for local graduates? Even now a lot of this government jobs are contract basis with no full-time benefits.

S&P 500 ‘No Dividend’ Fund launching in July - No withholding tax impact. New option for Singapore investors going forward
"The fund, XDIV, will sell holdings just before dividend dates and rotate into other S&P 500 ETFs to avoid taxable income, appealing to tax-aware investors" This will be a viable S&P500 alternative for Singapore investors that is even better than Ireland domiciled UCITS ETFs due to no tax drag at all. TL;DR is that the ETF holds other S&P500 ETFs and will sell holdings in one before dividends are paid and rotate into another ETF that has a different dividend date. Potential upsides are reduced commissions (LSE/EBS commissions are higher than US exchanges), avoiding the 15/30% WHT drag on total returns, reduced tracking errors as it holds a basket of S&P500 ETFs. Potential downsides are any drag from the reallocation, possible liquidity especially in the initial stages and tracking errors since it tracks other ETFs instead of the underlying 500 companies directly. Also, estate tax if you die while holding this versus Ireland domiciled UCITS. I will likely take a position upon launch to closely track its performance against the established ETFs. DYODD but consider keeping this on the radar. Might turn out to be a gem, might be a dud.

Star Awards 2025 - A hosting and floor management nightmare
Apart from Chantelle’s abysmal hosting skills and uncontrollable outbursts during the Top 10 female artists trying to make it all about her. The time management and tempo of the entire show is very bad this year. Guo Liang seems to have a hard time carrying the show and trying to build some rapport with Chantelle but the chemistry is just not there. The skits of the prize presenters sounds so unprepared and amateur. Was expecting more since it’s 30th anniversary - 30 years of hosting such an event and it’s still so bad?

"Deluxe" fried rice
$10 from Bao Er @ Balestier Plaza. The "deluxe" versions come with a big piece of fish/chicken. The "normal" versions come at $6.50 with a few pieces of protein.
