This lady has a very impressive resume: She joined the United States Army Reserve in 1992, and served as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot in the Iraq war. In 2004, when her Black Hawk helicopter was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade fired by Iraqi insurgents, she lost both legs and some mobility in her right arm. She was the first female double amputee from the war. Despite her injuries, she was awarded a medical waiver to continue serving in the Illinois Army National Guard for another ten years until she retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2014. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tammy_Duckworth
I don’t get why they cannot get people well versed in current affairs to be ambassadors, instead of some random guy
Ok to be very fair, the actual Ambassador position is ceremonial (in a posting like Singapore). Their job is to read prepared statements and attend functions, its the attaches who do the actual work. However, to do this you at least have to be able to do basic homework on your posting and be able to communicate with confidence. This clown didn't even bother.
Trump always picks cronies. Competency is not what he cares about.
