F1 fans in S’pore stuck in crowded ‘standstill’ at midnight while rushing for last MRT train

Yeah, this was an absolute mess and honestly the worst part of the entire weekend. I was in that crowd and it was genuinely unsettling. You're already exhausted from a long day, just wanting to get home, and then you're packed in with thousands of people with no movement at all. The fact that security seemed to be actively making it worse by blocking certain routes was just the icing on the cake. It really highlights a massive failure in planning by the organizers. They know exactly how many tickets they sell, and they know the event ends late. To not have a solid, coordinated plan with SMRT for crowd management and extended train services is just negligent. Pushing everyone out at the same time into bottlenecks was a recipe for disaster, and it’s a miracle nobody got hurt. For future events, they absolutely need to either stagger the post-race performances or, more importantly, extend the MRT operating hours. It's a no-brainer. So many other major cities around the world keep their public transport running late for big events like this. Relying on everyone to disperse via rideshares or walking just isn't feasible and creates this dangerous gridlock. Hopefully they learn from this for next year, because the race itself was amazing, but the ending left a really bad taste.
I was in Taipei for countdown and the train ran throughout the night on 31 dec. The train staff was announcing with loud hailers “trains are not stopping tonight. There is no rush to catch the trains”
Does this happen every year? Or is this year's especially bad?
This year was extra full because of G-Dragon. Crowd completely packed.
Crowd control and general management of crowds this year is the worst I’ve ever seen it at a SG GP. Chaos due to lack of staff and unnecessary processes (had to provide ticket twice within 10m, not by accident but by design, scanning ticket at exit as well…WTAF) has really gone backwards
Scanning my ticket to get out of an event is something I've never had to do in my 40 years on this planet.
